ANALOGUE ARMY

Japanese company PowerShovel was founded for one reason only: a sheer passion for analogue photography. For Carhartt they are now producing one of their most beautiful models – the Blackbird Fly – in a distinctively Carhartt design.

The Blackbird Fly is modelled on the classic twin-lens medium format camera Rolleiflex, the double-barrel 35-mm-film camera used by Andy Warhol and James Dean. This oldschool boy is a DECT cordless phone, with a touch dial and a white-on-black LCD dot-matrix screen for Caller ID, time and speed dial info. It even has a 150 number phonebook built in, a digital answering machine, and it offers a speakerphone mode too. But it's the vintage factor that counts here, so what really hooks me up is that it makes those old clicky sounds when you press the buttons, while little led dots around the dial simulate the spin.

SHIELDS UP

After the awful collaboration with Oakley, the Tron franchise now goes 80's with Spy Optic, bringing you a facial shield you can scare people with.

With handset custom metal details on an injection molded epsylon frame and tons of color variations (even some limited ones you can't normally buy in shops), the Spy Tron model make both Terminator X and Africa Bambaata look lame.

BEAR DUNKS

Dalla fiabesca famiglia felice di "Riccioli d'oro e i Tre Orsi" è nata l'idea di creare tre Kubrick Bearbricks, iconici action figures da collezione, ispirati rispettivamente a papà orso, mamma orso, e al loro pargoletto peloso. Questo è stato sufficiente affinchè la Nike decidesse che la vecchia storiella dei tre orsetti, rispolverata dagli omini di plastica della Medicom Toy, si adattasse benissimo a una serie di tre modelli di Dunks SB (uno alto, uno medio e uno basso), con all'interno disegnato proprio il Bearbricks a cui si ispirano.

Ed è così che nacque la pellicciosa leggenda del "Three Bears Pack".

Dopo aver visto ciò che Nokia sta facendo con l'ambizioso progetto Nokia Push Burton pensavo di essermi svegliato dall'ibernazione come Stallone in Demolition Man. E pare che sia proprio così, visto che per trasformarsi in Robocop basta indossare una maschera Transcend, nata dalla collaborazione tra Recon Instruments e Zeal Optics. Incredibile ma vero.

SOOO ANALOG

In questi anni fatti di mp3, divx e compressioni varie, la parola analogico fa quasi commuovere, riportandoci a un epoca in cui la sola fisicità del media donava emozioni.
Emozioni ormai dimenticate che tornano alla mente grazie a So Analog, la nuova serie di creazioni di Squid Kids Ink: tre accattivanti action figures raffiguranti una cartuccia Nes, un audiocassetta e un floppy disk, chiamati rispettivamente 10-Doh!, A-Drive e B-Side.

Incrociamo le dita affinché vadano in produzione il più presto possibile e ne vengano fatte altre, magari una bella cassetta vhs e un vinile. Nel frattempo non resta che fare un salto sul blog di Squid Kids Ink e osservare come questi tre ragazzacci hanno preso vita.

BASS ME OUT

Le Pioneer HDJ 1000 sono le cuffie per eccellenza, e in questa riedizione limitata disponibile nelle due colorazioni nero e oro, il suono acquista ancora più nitidezza nelle medie frequenze e potenza nei bassi. DRONE E' MEGLIO

Nonostante il suo triste fallimento, l'intuizione di Ivan Vanko e del suo fido pappagallo in Ironman 2 è innegabilmente vincente. L'evoluzione militare, sopratutto in campo aeronautico, andrà, anzi, sta già andando verso un futuro robotizzato.
Quando un aereo da guerra viene abbattuto la perdita maggiore per l'esercito non è l'elevatissimo costo del velivolo, come verrebbe da pensare, bensì quello del pilota. Una persona con rare qualità fisiche e mentali la cui formazione si sviluppa in decine e decine di anni di durissimo addestramento è economicamente ben più preziosa di qualunque macchina.

Aerei senza pilota, meglio conosciuti come droni, saranno comodamente guidati da terra da uomini che più che soldati saranno una sorta di ultra hardcore gamers. Come diventare uno di loro? Da oggi, grazie alla Parrot (che casualmente significa pappagallo) e al suo AR Drone è possibile incominciare ad allenarsi. Trattasi di un quadricopter con due telecamente incorporate comandato via wifi tramite iPhone o iPod Touch, una sorta di anello di congiunzione tra modellismo e videogames.
Ma la cosa non di ferma al pilotare un elicotterino con uno smarthphone: saranno infatti disponibili due applicazioni di realtà aumentata per giocare alla guerra contro un altro drone, un robot o da soli contro nemici virtuali.

MANI CATALITICHE

Chi non ha avuto in mano uno Zippo almeno una volta? E' innegabile, accendersi una sigaretta come un vero cowboy dà una certa soddifazione. Ma da oggi l'iconico accendino ci darà un altro tipo di appagamento. E' uscito infatti sul mercato lo Zippo Hand Warmer, una sorta di termosfone tascabile che emana calore fino a 12 ore consecutive.
La cosa pazzesca è non c'è una vera combustione, nonostante sia alimentato dalla classica benzina. Funziona grazie a un processo chiamato catalytic combustion che sfrutta fibre di vetro catalizzate al platino. Quindi non avendo neanche bisogno di ossigeno è possibile metterlo in tasca o addirittura direttamente dentro ad un guanto. Non ho la benchè minima idea di come ciò sia possibile, ma leggendo in giro qua e là le opinioni di chi l'ha già acquistato, pare che funzioni alla grande.

SOLO IL FUTURO

Questa volta il nome provvisorio è Instant Trend. Come l'E-clock si collega al nostro smartphone via bluetooth, ma non si limita ad avvisarci vibrando, bensì visualizza sull'ampio display (presumibilmente con tecnologia oled) i messaggi che riceviamo da Twitter, Facebook o altri social networks. Display che, come d'abitudine della casa giapponese, oltre ai messaggi visualizza l'ora in due modalità, una "umana" e una matematico-aliena.

Essendo un concept watch, se vogliamo trovarlo nell'uovo di Pasqua del prossimo anno non ci resta che andare sull'apposita pagina e votarlo.
