FLATPACK LIGHTS

A continuos challenge for designers worldwide is to create nice products which performs and look great but are eighter stackable or have a minimal size during transportation.
With this aim the Netherland based Studio Mango unvealed two amazing pieces of lighting design: the Spring Lamp, a coiled length of rubber which when hung it unfolds itself like a full bell shade, and the Lygo Lamb, basically a DiY lamp made of 144 lego-like curved bricks. Both -when not assembled- are small enough to be inserted in a letter box.
Simple, smart, playfull... genius.

AROUND THE SPECTRUM

Fortunately this is not the Rainbow Road (the sickest racetrack in the history of racing games) but something much more enjoyable: it's Olafur Eliasson's highly anticipated new installation 'Your Rainbow Panorama', set to open to the public on may 28th.

The permanent elevated structure provides a 360º view of the city of århus, Denmark. Suspended between the city and the sky, the viewing platform insists on the sensory engagement of those who enter it.
The continuously circular pathway sits on top of and proportionality compliments the ARoS museum of art, designed by schmidt hammer lassen in 2007. measuring 150 meters around, the transparent glass unit is designed to act as a visual compass for the city, its colors marking the physical location of each visitor.
Representing every color in the spectrum, the design looks to enter into a cohesive dialogue between the exiting architecture and the surrounding city. virtually erasing the boundaries between indoors and out, the encompassing environment aims to question the comfortable limits for which people are accustomed to moving.
enveloped in the rainbow-like atmosphere, the user produces afterimages in hues complimentary to the colors that surround them, altering and defining the perception of the city that lies below.

PERCHED ON A TREE

The eco-PERCH concept is based on Blue Forest's famous tree houses. It’s natural, organic geometry maximises the relationship between the inside space and the outdoor setting, ensuring the structure sits harmoniously within the landscape.
The building sleeps 4 people and is delivered, assembled and commissioned in approximately 5 days (subject to site preparation). The eco-PERCH design is flexible and can be adapted to suit your site where existing infrastructure is already in place. With options to assemble your building on the ground or in the treetops there are infinite possibilities for creating accommodation with a difference. To simplify the planning requirements the building has been designed to conform with the Caravan & Mobile Homes Act.

GLOWING STARS

The Chuck Taylor All Star is recognized around the world as a symbol of originality and self-expression.
The rubber-soled pioneers that put the ‘squeak’ in basketball have been an off-the-court favorite of rock stars and rebels for the past 60 years. And now, not only we can design our own pair selecting between a variety of custom combination and patterns, but we can even choose to make them glow in the dark. I'm sure it won't take long before we see these on the dancefloor.

EYE LISTENING

Repositories of stories and its enriching emotions, the covers, that accomodate the existing panoply of musical genres, are the motto for this exibition. The focus is made on album covers that often conquer our memory even when music slightly reached our ears.
Major graphic disasters or deified, unduly ignored or zeitgeists, covers provide listening with a touch and an image, with the act of collection and share. From cover to cover, going thru all the stories (and histories), Cãoceito + Burdman wrote a new one to the sound of a song that repeats: I need nothing, I’ve everything I need.

ROYAL AIR

The brand new Nike Air Royal Mid SO is one of the classiest sneaker we've seen in a long time. With regal lineage, this sneaker lives up to its lofty name. There’s Air Max comfort, a unique Stitched Outsole that bonds the upper with the crepe rubber sole and a premium finish that showcases the shoe’s simple (but stylish) aesthetic. The three available colorways—Beachtree, Cool Grey and Black—have bright color pops in the soles, too. Air-Sole units in the heel and a perforated suede upper deliver comfort, breathability and a quick reminder that the Air Royal is part of a very special family..

ANALOGUE ARMY

Japanese company PowerShovel was founded for one reason only: a sheer passion for analogue photography. For Carhartt they are now producing one of their most beautiful models – the Blackbird Fly – in a distinctively Carhartt design.
The Blackbird Fly is modelled on the classic twin-lens medium format camera Rolleiflex, the double-barrel 35-mm-film camera used by Andy Warhol and James Dean. Its old-fashioned style is guaranteed to bring the pleasure of analogue photography back to every vintage enthusiast. The Carhartt version is released in a nice military green. The camera’s casing is made from high-quality plastics. It features the following technical stats:

• Lens: f/ 33mm/photo lens
• Shutter speed: 1/125
• Aperture: f7 (cloudy) f11 (fine weather)
• Focus: visual distance estimated measurement (0.8/1.5/2/2.5/3/4/5/10/∞)
• Weight: body 210g/case 30g
• Film type: 135 (35mm) film
• Camera type: 65 mm twin-lens reflex camera
