WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE

On July the 18th Santeria Milano will bring you 'Analog vs Digital', a show offered from Recipient.cc, a collective of young artists, questioning and pushing the feeble boundaries between art and music. A display of visual and audio perfomances for humans and beyond, questioning the endless contrast between analog and digital, on the tomorrows that will never arrive and the future that could still happen. The sounds of genomes, an animated castle, the robots and other interactive objects will throw you into an imaginary future created from the collective, everything cradled from the live sounds and the analog synths from Rondam.

And here's a little extra from the magic recipient: the sound of the future extracted in the form of an mpfree. Handle with care.

FLATPACK LIGHTS

A continuos challenge for designers worldwide is to create nice products which performs and look great but are eighter stackable or have a minimal size during transportation.

With this aim the Netherland based Studio Mango unvealed two amazing pieces of lighting design: the Spring Lamp, a coiled length of rubber which when hung it unfolds itself like a full bell shade, and the Lygo Lamb, basically a DiY lamp made of 144 lego-like curved bricks. Both -when not assembled- are small enough to be inserted in a letter box.

ONE NIGHT IN PARIS

The urban invasion has begun. Street artist Invader travels around the globe adding a touch of retrogaming swag to the daily citylife routine.
Invader’s minimalist images evoke the infinite permutation of the digital image through the redistribution of a methodological coloured pixel in a grid. Playful and minimalist, the space invader stuck to the wall is a reference for the collective imagination which creates an empathetic link between the mosaics and the city they are in.
To this date, the artist has invaded more than 80 cities throughout the world, connecting them through a web of space invaders he managed to turn into a collective online game. Rad, rad, rad.

AROUND THE SPECTRUM

Fortunately this is not the Rainbow Road (the sickest racetrack in the history of racing games) but something much more enjoyable: it's Olafur Eliasson's highly anticipated new installation 'Your Rainbow Panorama', set to open to the public on may 28th.

The permanent elevated structure provides a 360º view of the city of århus, Denmark. Suspended between the city and the sky, the viewing platform insists on the sensory engagement of those who enter it.

The continuously circular pathway sits on top of and proportionality compliments the ARoS museum of art, designed by schmidt hammer lassen in 2007. measuring 150 meters around, the transparent glass unit is designed to act as a visual compass for the city, its colors marking the physical location of each visitor.

Representing every color in the spectrum, the design looks to enter into a cohesive dialogue between the exiting architecture and the surrounding city. virtually erasing the boundaries between indoors and out, the encompassing environment aims to question the comfortable limits for which people are accustomed to moving.

enveloped in the rainbow-like atmosphere, the user produces afterimages in hues complimentary to the colors that surround them, altering and defining the perception of the city that lies below.

ACRYLIC LIFE

Riusuke Fukahori's London debut exhibition "Goldfish Salvation" transforms ICN gallery into the world of goldfish. When struggling with artistic vision, Fukahori's pet goldfish became his inspiration and ever since his passion and lifelong theme. His unique style of painting uses acrylic on clear resin which is poured into containers, resulting in a three-dimensional appearance and lifelike vitality.

Cast in a variety of vessels - from large sushi basins to the hollow insides of black bamboo - these kind of "living sculptures" are a delicate balance between painting and sculpture. The artist's meticulous attention to detail coupled with the tedious nature of the style creates highly dynamic three-dimensional pieces that capture the delicacy and animated nature of the fish.

GUAC-A-MOTION

Avocado, toghether with olives, is the only fruit to contain monounsaturated fat, the same we find in foods such ad red meat, milk and nuts. Not only it's such a rich nature's output, but when transformed into guacamole it also gets delicious. The customization factor is what makes this simple recipe always fresh: the possible variations are virtually unlimited, depending on which kind of chilly we put into it (usually jalapeno), the ammount of tomato and onions and even its final texture.

We can all make our own guac, but i doubt anyone could ever make it like stop motion artist PES does.

MAGIC DROPS

Markus Reugels is one of those persons who care about details.

His photography is mostly about macro shots and closeups, and with the "liquid art" project he unleash his passion for H2O. Water drops, water with soap, water with milk and so on.

Unfortunately our eyes can't see many things without help, but thanks to a highspeed sensor, the right light setup, some old school lenses and Mr.Reugels behind the camera the magic that lurks behind the most simple things suddently shows up.

TRIPPING ON VINCENT

The classic post-impressionist painting by Vincent Van Gogh "Starry Night" underwent a digital transformation, thanks to Petro Vrellis, a Greek digital artist and electrical engineer, using the open source C++ openFrameworks. In this new, interactive version, you’ll see swirling patterns of color set in constant motion.

This is a pretty amazing way to rediscover an already incredible painting. We’d love to see more classic works of art updated in this fashion – then put into an iPad app for all of us to enjoy.

OUT FROM THE BOX

We already knew it, some italians are genius. Although it's not common to find really inspired projects over there, mainly because many talented people left the country due to restrictions and awful laws. Said that, when you find something like the Milan based bunch Recipient, it's worth a hundred of other average "seen before" things. Their aim is to experiment the interctions between new technologies and new forms of art, with an eye on what could emerge from the collision of these two worlds.

The results are crazy cobinations like historical architechture being melted toghether with futuristic motion graphics through an unusual projection mapping session, or the analog world going digital in a pythagorean device (aka Rube Goldberg machine).

Stay hungry, stay foolish someone said... well we're sure these guys will.

The Pistolshrimp's projection below is inspired by the tarot, a set of cards used for games and fortune-telling. Commissioned in the 15th century, the Visconti-Sforza tarot deck is the first one to include major arcana and one of the oldest known to exist.

I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT

What about 55.000 led lights assembled together to form an unreal colorful cathedral?

That is named "Luminarie De Cagna" and it was recently built for the 2012 Light Festival in Ghent, Belgium.

The festival featured almost 30 exhibitions including a lot of projection mapping, fields of luminous flowers, and even a glowing phone booth aquarium. However, with its mystical and psychedelic appeal, the Luminarie De Cagna seems to have stolen the show.

ILLUMINATED MINDS

Luminokaya's visionary art is something you don't see everyday. His artworks are unbelievably powerful and universal masterpieces, passing from extremely deep fractals to misterious sciamanic landscapes with a rare soothing touch. An acute perception which knows no boundries: just put an airbrush in his hands and it will make no difference, magic will suddently start to happen.

Art-project Luminokaya lab. appeared as a result of a huge amount of data coming from the great field of energy and information in forms of light and energy waves, visions, images, dream-state objects, trans personal visions and visions beyond personality, and also symbols, signs and channeling. The vast amount of information offered by The Space didn’t allow to ignore this exciting and rich experience.
My input was minimized to pressing the keyboard keys, and the awareness of infinity and abundance of the info-energy continuum can let me speak only about being a channel, or a medium. So, there can’t be any question of authorship.
